DANVERS – Robert A. Lapointe, 87, of Danvers, beloved companion of Judy Souza, died on November 16, 2025 at Kaplan Family Hospice House, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Danvers, the son of the late Adelard and Yvonne (Blanchette) Lapointe, Bob was raised and educated in Danvers, and was a graduate of Holten High School, Class of 1956. He was called to duty by the United States Navy in 1956, proudly serving his country.
Following his service to country, Bob worked as a mechanic and entrepreneur, owning and operating several small businesses throughout the community, including auto service, repair shops, and parts stores. He later joined the Town of Danvers Fire Department, where he served alongside his son Paul with dedication and pride until his retirement in 2000.
Bob was an avid outdoorsman who loved fishing, boating, skiing, diving for lobsters, and spending cherished time with friends and family at the lake house on Pine River Pond in New Hampshire. He especially enjoyed golfing with his longtime group, “The Nomads,” and sharing many lighthearted, competitive moments on the bowling lanes. He was also known for taking long, meandering drives down any curvy, winding country road that caught his interest. Each winter, he and Judy traveled to Florida as snowbirds, embracing the sunshine and their time together. Friendly, easygoing, and always up for good conversation, Bob could often be found cruising around Danvers, visiting and “shooting the breeze” with those he cared about. Above all, he treasured his family who brought him immense joy throughout his life. Bob will be remembered for his kindness, humor, and the deep loyalty he showed to everyone fortunate enough to know him.
Bob is survived by his companion of 30 years, Judy Souza, his former wife and mother of his children, Carol (Lee) Lapointe, his sons, Paul Lapointe and his wife, Pamela of Beverly, Scott Lapointe of Peabody, and Marc Lapointe and his wife, Debbie of Lyman, ME, his daughter, Tracy Carangelo and her husband, Eric of Lynnfield, his brother, Ronald LaPointe and his wife, Joyce, his sisters, Lucille Provost and her husband, Donald, Lorraine LaForge and her husband, Norman, and Denise Richards and her husband, Bill, his grandchildren, Alexander Lapointe, Jonathan Lapointe, Jacqueline Stearly, Shawn Sarantis, Brittany Lapointe, Brianna Lapointe, Jayden Lapointe, Nicole Lapointe, Chase Carangelo, and Cameron Carangelo, his great grandchildren, Callie, Lainey, and Easton, and many nieces and nephews.
