DANVERS – Robert Ruest, 67, of Danvers, passed away on Friday, October 16, 2026, at the Hunt Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, surrounded by the memory of a life filled with family and sports.

Born in Beverly to the late Arthur and Louise (Merrill) Ruest, Robert graduated from Beverly High School with the Class of 1977. An entrepreneur at heart, he spent his career working as a skilled interior and exterior house painter.

Robert had a deep love for both people and animals, but nothing meant more to him than his family. He was an avid softball player and coach who spent four cherished years coaching his daughter, Jennifer, while she played first base and outfield. The two shared an incredibly close bond. Together, they went on memorable vacations, including trips to Florida to visit his late brother Arthur in Kissimmee, and a classic California road trip where they drove up the coast to San Francisco and caught a Red Sox game.

He loved salt water and freshwater fishing with his coffee!

At home, Robert was known for his love of Dunkin' Donuts coffee and his talent in the kitchen. He was an excellent cook, famous for his roast dinners, boiled dinners, and a spectacular meat sauce made with sausage and beef. He also shared a special connection with his family dogs; Jennifer even taught his favorite dog, Max, sign language.

Robert is survived by his much-loved daughter, Jennifer, and her mother, Christine Ruest. He also leaves behind his sister, Judy Regan, and her husband Michael; his aunt, Joan Moroni; his girlfriend, Betty Andress; his close friend and caretaker of his dog Piper, Tammi Theriault; and many dear nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Arthur Ruest.
