IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Robin
Menzies
March 16, 1957 – February 21, 2024
DANVERS – Miss Robin Menzies, long-term resident of Danvers, passed away after a long cancer journey late Wednesday night, February 21st, 2024.
Robin was born in Beverly on March 16th, 1957, raised in Danvers, attended local schools, and graduated from Merrimack College (Class of 1979), specializing in business and accounting. In her career, Robin worked for Grossman's, Moynihan Lumber, and recently, Stop & Shop. Robin worked continuously until a week before her death, commendably serving as an essential frontline worker during the COVID-19 pandemic while simultaneously undergoing intensive chemotherapy.
Robin is remembered fondly for her gentle, forbearing spirit, optimism, and composure. She exuded an air of enduring tranquility that was admirable and aspirational. Robin reminds us of God's tenderness and inspires us to remember the gift of grace and mercy bestowed on those who suffer illness. Robin's demure nature juxtaposed her quick-witted dry humor, cultivated by years of entertaining rhythmic banter with her brothers, Bruce, and Donald. Her comedic timing was impeccable. She was devoted to her family and friends and was kind, loving, and attentive to animals, including Paco, a feathered friend of 15 years, and the many dogs in her life: Zelda, Duncan, Lexi, Fiona, Matilda, Amber Sky, and her beloved Sophie, whom she leaves behind. Robin enjoyed reading, particularly stories about the Orient, photography, and was an avid Patriots, Celtics, and Red Sox fan. She amassed a collection of festive brooches to elicit smiles and celebrate special occasions. Her favorite holiday, Halloween, was a highly orchestrated production. Every year, Robin extravagantly decorated her home and utilized her unassumingness to her advantage—waiting frozenly posed in infamous costumes—for the perfect opportunity to scare neighborhood trick-or-treaters.
Robin is preceded in death by her mother and father, Joan and Donald Menzies, her older brother, Donald Menzies, and cousin, David. She is survived by her brother, Bruce Menzies of Danvers; sister-in-law, Christine Menzies formerly of Swampscott; cousins, Chris, and Elaine Dorsey of Brighton, Lynne of Georgia, Bob of Illinois, family, friends, and coworkers.
