DANVERS – Mr. Robyn Robert Small, 71, of Danvers, beloved husband of Doris E. (Chadbourne) Small, died Sunday, December 29th, 2024 at Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers.
Born in Nashua, New Hampshire, he was the son of the late Francis Small and Arlene (Kashulines) Small. He was raised and educated in Washington Township, New Jersey, just outside of Philadelphia. He attended Washington Township High School and graduated as a member of the class of 1971. An excellent athlete from a young age, Robyn excelled on the football gridiron. As a Washington Township Minuteman, he earned All-State honors as Quarterback. He continued his academic and athletic career at Alleghany College in Pennsylvania. While in college he was a member of the Phi Delta Theta Fraternity. As starting Quarterback for the Allegheny Gators (1970-1974) he threw for over 3,000 yards and earned the distinction of first team All-PAC conference and Associated Press All America in 1974. He continued his education earning his MBA from Bentley University.
Mr. Small had been employed as a banker, project manager and professional consultant. For many years, he was associated with The Boston Company and previously had worked at the former Bay Bank. He worked for over two years in Amsterdam establishing an office for his company. He was a leader in all that he did, professionally, athletically and personally. He was ultimately proud of his professional achievements.
He was pre-deceased by his loving daughter, Jennifer Small-Hartwig in December of 2023.
Robyn is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Doris E. (Chadbourne) Small of Danvers, his son, Christopher Small, originally of Danvers, his son-in-law, Ryan Hartwig of Roswell, Georgia, his granddaughters, Nora and Emmy Hartwig, his sisters, Holly Small of Hudson, NH and Suzanne Small and her husband, Thomas Clark of Londonderry, NH, his brothers, Greg Small of Florida, Gary Small of New Hampshire and Craig Small of Meadville, Pa, and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Kevin, Michelle and Celeste Small.
ARRANGEMENTS: His funeral service will be held at O'Donnell Cremations – Funerals – Celebrations, 167 Maple St., (rte. 62) DANVERS, Saturday, January 4th at 5 P.M. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours prior to the service from 3 to 5 P.M.
