SALEM-Mr. Roland N. St. Pierre, 84, of Salem, beloved husband of Mary J. (Brown) St. Pierre, died Friday October 12, 2018 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers after a long battle with kidney disease, he was surrounded by his loving family. Roland's ability to withstand the rigors of dialysis for so many years was due to his tremendous love for his wife and family.

Born in Salem he was the son of the late Joseph and Ida St. Pierre. He was raised in Salem and was a graduate of St. Mary's High School in Lynn. Roland continued his education receiving his bachelor's degree in education.

Mr. St. Pierre had been employed at Lynn Technical and Vocational High School as an Auto Body teacher for over 25 years, were he was known for his dedication to his students, and his expertise in his field. He was proud to see his students graduate and go on to have successful careers and honored to have been a part of their success.

A loving husband, father and grandfather, Roland was a true family man. He enjoyed many outdoor activities with his family and friends, boating and fishing, traveling abroad and barbecuing with his "special sauce"; he also enjoyed a good game of golf. He was a man who truly knew how to enjoy life. On the dance floor he and Mary were always the couple to watch. He was a spontaneous man as you might find yourself on a day trip to New York City, boating on the Cape Cod Canal, or the Charles River on one of his many unplanned excursions. He was a lifelong resident of Salem, a Communicant of the Immaculate Conception Church, a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 76 of Salem for many years, and a former member of the Salem Willows Yacht Club. His outgoing personality endeared him to many and he will be deeply missed by his loving family and many dear friends.

In addition to his loving wife Mary, his high school sweet heart, with whom he shared 64 years of marriage, Roland is survived by his daughters, Catherine St. Pierre and her husband Paul Savasta of Salem, Terryanne St. Pierre & her husband George Fallon of Salem, and Cynthia St. Pierre of Boston, her son, Marc St. Pierre of Gloucester and his partner Joseph Jefferies, his four grandchildren, Stephanie Savasta and her husband Raphael Simard, Joseph Savasta, Caroline Savasta and Erik Sayce and his wife Jennifer Pullen all of Salem and his nieces, Lisa Sheldon and her husband Philip and Taryn Belgiorno and her husband Steve and many cousins here and in Canada.
