PEABODY- Mrs. Rose Ann "Tootsie" (Ruest) Krisko 76, of Peabody, formerly of Salem, beloved wife of Henry J. Krisko Sr., died Tuesday evening at her home surrounded by her family.
Born in Salem, she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Mary (Perry) Ruest and was the third of seven siblings. She was raised and educated in Salem and was a graduate of Salem High School, class of 1952.
Mrs. Krisko had been employed for many years as an operator with the New England Telephone Company, until the time of her retirement. In retirement, she had been associated with the Peabody Institute Library for many years.
A member of the Telephone Pioneers of America, Rose Ann was a pioneer and for fifteen years was the coordinator of the New Born Baby Program at local hospitals. She knitted 1 to 2 sweaters and afghans per month for babies in need and spent time visiting with them in the hospital. She often volunteered her time visiting patients and young children in hospitals to sooth and comfort those in physical distress.
Tootsie was a member of the Minuteman Craft Club of Mass, serving as president for two years and treasurer for three years. During this time the club completed many projects and through their fairs they were able to generously donate to many charities. She was also a former longtime dedicated communicant of the former St. Joseph Polish Church in Peabody and currently was a communicant of St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Peabody.
In addition to her loving husband, Rose is survived by her daughter, Arlene Rozumek and her husband Roland of Beverly, her sons, Henry J. Krisko Jr. and his wife Lynn of Tewksbury and Douglas Krisko of Peabody, her grandson, John Henry Krisko of Tewksbury, her sisters, Linda Laycock and her husband Fred of N.H. and Beverly Jalbert and her husband Philip of Beverly, her brother, Robert Ruest and his wife Lori of N. H. and several nieces and nephews.
ARRANGEMENTS: Her funeral will be held from the Peterson-O'Donnell Funeral Home 167 Maple St., (rte. 62) Danvers, Monday at 9:15 A.M. followed by her funeral Mass in St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Salem/Peabody Line at 10 A.M. Relatives and friends invited. Burial in St. Mary's Cemetery, Salem. Visiting hours Sunday from 4 to 7 P.M.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in Rose's memory to the Rheumatoid Arthritis Foundation, or to Hospice of the North Shore and Greater Boston, 75 Sylvan St., Danvers, MA 01923.
