SALEM – Mr. Salvatore Bordonaro, age 91, of Salem, MA, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on December 25 ^th , 2022 from a long and courageous battle of Parkinson's Disease. His devoted wife of 65 years tirelessly cared for him throughout the years. He will be deeply missed by his family.

Born and raised in Pietraperzia, Sicily, he lived in Rome and Switzerland before moving to the United States in 1966. He became a United States citizen to fulfill the American dream of providing a better life for his family; which he succeeded. He worked at Duchess Shoe of Salem for 10 years and worked two jobs at the General Cinema of Peabody and Salem Hospital for several years. He retired from Salem Hospital after 25 years of employment.

He cherished spending time with his family. He was a lifelong Boston sports fan and always had the latest statistics of his favorite Bruins Team. He enjoyed walking Nahant beach with his wife, exercising, gardening, playing cards, singing along to Italian music, and being spoiled by his wife's Italian cooking.

He is survived by his wife, Vincenza (Rabita) Bordonaro, his daughters Maria and husband, Roy Simoes and Rosetta Bordonaro and fiancé, Biagio Caretti, his grandchildren, Christina and Andrew Simoes, his brother, John and wife, Vincenza Bordonaro, his sister in-laws, Giovanna Alú and Maria Marotta, and several nieces and nephews. He was the son of the late Pietro Bordonaro and Rosaria (Napoli) Bordonaro and predeceased by his sister, Lucia Maienza, and brother-in laws, Filippo Alú, Michele Marotta, and Rocco Maienza.

ARRANGEMENTS: His funeral will be held from O'Donnell Cremations – Funerals – Celebrations, 84 Washington Sq., (at Salem Common) SALEM, MA, Saturday, Dec. 31 ^st at 9 A.M. followed by his Funeral Mass at Ste. Anne's Church, Jefferson Ave., Salem, MA at 10 A.M. Relatives and friends invited. Entombment following the Mass at Holy Cross Mausoleum, 175 Broadway, Malden, MA.
