Obituary

BOXFORD - Scott E. Leon, 64, of Boxford, MA died unexpectedly on May 15, 2025. He was a beloved father, husband, brother, son, uncle, friend, and mentor known for his gentle, loyal spirit, his curious, intelligent mind, and his gratitude for his family.

Scott loved spending time in nature and on vacations with his wife, Lorraine, and their three children Matthew (28), Lucas (22), and Rose (15). Being near the ocean was a source of joy connected to fond memories visiting Truro in Cape Cod, MA during his childhood.

Scott was born in Framingham, MA, went to Framingham North High School, earned a BS degree in Mechanical Engineering from Northeastern University, and an MBA degree from Suffolk University in Boston.

After meeting Lorraine and marrying in 1988, they lived in several Massachusetts towns as they began their family, followed by seven years in Colorado, and three years in England, before returning to Massachusetts where they have lived in Boxford since 2012.

For almost twelve years, Scott worked for KMC Systems in Merrimac, NH, his most recent position being VP of Engineering & Program Management. Scott was described as instrumental in leading their Engineering team through many accomplishments and development programs, and he will be remembered for his mentorship, leadership, and friendship. A company statement said: "Scott was well-liked by his colleagues and friends, and never failed to brighten the day of those around him. He was known as a devoted family man who cherished time with loved ones and enjoyed sharing stories of his family travels."

Scott was passionate about planning vacations. His family and friends will always remember their many fun adventures together. They traveled throughout Europe and China, skied Steamboat Springs, CO, biked through Loire Valley in France, and enjoyed Music Row in Nashville, TN, as well as other destinations including Martha's Vineyard, Falmouth, and Chatham.

Scott was often surrounded by extended family and friends when they gathered for holidays, dinners, backyard barbecues, and pool parties. He and his family were also active members of St. Rose of Lima church in Topsfield.

Scott was a dedicated fan of the New England Patriots, Boston Bruins, and the Boston Celtics. But he was an even bigger fan of his children's various academic and extra-curricular activities, including piano, lacrosse, field hockey, cross-country, track and field.

At home, Scott was often seen with their dog, Ruby, nearby as he worked on home projects and landscaping, which he found therapeutic.

Scott is survived by his wife Lorraine (Lucier) Leon of Boxford, and their three children, Matthew Leon of Somerville, Lucas Leon of Boxford, and Rose Leon of Boxford; his brother Craig Leon and his wife Donna Leon of Northbridge MA; and his sister Catherine Gentile and her husband Giuseppe Gentile of Hopedale MA.

Scott is predeceased by his mother Myrna L. (Cookson) Leon, who died in October 2024, his father Arthur J. Leon who died in 1966, and his brother Manuel Christopher Leon who died in 1985.

Scott's passing shines a light on mental health and the importance of prioritizing well-being, checking in on each other, and getting help when needed.
