SALEM – Mr. Sean Patrick O'Neil, 63 of Saugus formerly of Salem, died unexpectedly, August 4th, 2025 at his home.
Born in Boston, he was the son of the late John Edward and Barbara (Spencer) O'Neil. He was raised and educated in Saugus and was a graduate of Essex-Agricultural School in 1980.
Mr. O'Neil had been employed for many years as the landscape and building maintenance Supervisor at both St. John the Baptist Church and St. John the Baptist School in Peabody and St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Peabody, until the time of his retirement. He enjoyed his job immensely and was beloved by the whole parish community.
Sean was truly devoted to his faith. He was a devote catholic and attended Mass daily. He was a Eucharistic Minister at both St. John the Baptist and St. Thomas the Apostle Churches over the years. An avid gardener, he had a passion for the out of doors and enjoyed spending his time out in nature. An over 40-year resident of the City of Salem, Sean was happiest spending time with his family and friends. He will deeply missed by all especially his canine companion Harry, whom he showered with love and affection.
Sean is survived by his siblings, Karen O'Neil of NY, Michael O'Neil and his wife, Susan of NH, Erin Ledrew and her husband, Dale of Saugus, Brian O'Neil and his wife, Lynn of NH, Thomas O'Neil and his wife, Valarie of NH and Mary O'Neil of Lynn, many nieces, nephews and extended family and friends. He was the brother of the late Kathy Malchnoff.
ARRANGEMENTS: His funeral will be held from O'Donnell Cremations – Funerals – Celebrations, 167 Maple St., (rte 62) DANVERS, Tuesday, August 12th at 9 AM followed by his funeral Mass at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Margin St., Peabody at 10 AM. Relatives and friends invited. Burial in St. Mary's Cemetery, Salem. Visiting hours Monday, Aug. 11th from 4 to 6 P.M. Donations in Sean's memory may be made to the St. Vincent De Paul Society at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, C/O 17 Chestnut St. Peabody, MA 01960.
