BEVERLY – Spiridon "Spiro" Gioulis, of Beverly, MA, passed away on December 27th, 2023, at the age of 70. He was the husband of Sylvia (Bulyga) Gioulis for 47 years and was a devoted father and grandfather.

Spiro was born to the late John and Sophia Gioulis on May 29th, 1953, in Pramanta, Greece. As the eldest of three to his late sisters, Toula and Maria, Spiro grew up on his family's farmland and later served in the Greek military. After meeting his wife, Sylvia, in June of 1973 in Athens, he moved to the United States in 1976.

For over 30 years, Spiro was the proud owner of a pizza and sub shop in Newburyport, MA. He loved tending to his garden, spending time in Wolfeboro, NH and visiting Lake Winnipesauke, and most of all, spending time with his cherished grandchildren as their beloved Papou.

In addition to his loving wife, Sylvia, Spiro is survived by his two sons, Jonathan and Evan Gioulis, his daughter, Kristina (Gioulis) Drinkwater; Evan's wife, Caroline, Kristina's husband, Paul; and his grandchildren, Piper, Alexander and Anthony.

ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are invited to attend Spiro's funeral service which will be held at St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church, 5 Paleologos St., Peabody on Thursday, January 4th at 10 A.M. Please meet directly at the church. The service will be followed by a procession to Greenlawn Cemetery, 57 Orne Street in Salem, where Spiro will be laid to rest.
