DANVERS – Susan (Grant) Harvey, 83, passed away peacefully at Seasons of Danvers, October 14, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Beverly, to the late Clinton and Barbara (Hurd) Grant on February 1, 1943.

Susan lived a life defined by a bright spirit, a heart for service, and an enduring devotion to her family. Her journey began in Beverly, where she graduated from Beverly High School with the Class of 1961. Eager to build a meaningful career, she went on to pursue professional training at the prestigious Katharine Gibbs School on Huntington Avenue in Boston, where she mastered executive secretarial skills. Susan channeled this expertise into a career she held with immense pride, dedicating over 20 years of her professional life as the secretary to the State Police Detective Unit.

Outside of her career, faith, music, and creativity were woven deeply into the fabric of Susan’s daily life. For many years, she shared a special bond with her mother as they played the organ together at the Emmanuel Congregational Church in Beverly. An exceptionally creative soul, Susan loved sewing, crafting, and making beautiful quilts. She possessed curiosity and was never afraid to try something new—even taking a cake decorating class—and she took great joy in outfitting her kitchen with top-of-the-line appliances to bring her creative projects to life.

Many of Susan's fondest memories were made in the tranquility of nature during summers spent at the family camp in Harpswell, Maine, near Brunswick. There, and at home, her gentle spirit extended to a profound love for animals, especially her two dogs, both named Seamus, and her beloved cats.

Above all else, Susan’s greatest joy and the most important part of her life was her family. As a devoted mother and grandmother, she loved her two sons, her daughters-in-law, and her grandchildren unconditionally, leaving behind a legacy of deep love and devotion.

In her later years, Susan brought that same signature warmth to her community at Seasons of Danvers, where she lived for three wonderful years. Surrounded by excellent care, she deeply loved her friends, nurses, and the staff. She could often be found socializing with them near her favorite spot by the fish tank—a fitting final chapter for a cherished friend who spent her entire life bringing people together.

In addition to her parents, Susan is predeceased by her daughter-in-law, Joyce (Ouellette) Harvey. Susan is survived by her sons, Michael Harvey and his wife Vickie, and Jon Harvey; her granddaughter, Jennifer Harvey; and her two great-grandchildren, Kacy and Kaleb Harvey.
