Obituary

GEORGETOWN – Mrs. Susan (Mathews) Turner, 84 of Georgetown, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 1st, 2024 at the Jeffrey and Susan Brudnick Center for Living in Peabody.

Born in Melrose, Susan was the daughter of the late Franklin and Barbara (Cole) Mathews. She was raised and educated in Melrose and Saugus and was a graduate of Saugus High School, class of 1957. Susan continued her education at Miss Farmer's School of Cookery in Boston receiving her diploma.

As a young woman, Susan summered on Plum Island where she worked as a lifeguard for many years. With a passion for engaging with others, Susan devoted her professional career in customer service. First starting her career with Bickford's Pancake House where she was a waitress for many years, matriculating to manager for several years. In transition from Bickford's, Susan worked at Ann and Hope as a cashier and later at ChiChi's Mexican Restaurant as an office assistant and hostess which later became, Hometown Buffet where she worked as a cashier. Susan would end her professional career after dedicating 20 years at Shaw's Market in Ipswich as a trusted and dependable cashier.

A loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Susan loved being with her family. In her free time, she enjoyed crafting and creating ceramics, painting, knitting and crocheting and keeping up on current events and reading. Her loving heart will live on in all who knew her. She will be deeply missed.

Surviving Susan are her children, Bethany J. Brewington of Salem, R. Scott Brewington and his wife, Casey of Montana and Lori J. Grenier and her husband, Timothy of Georgetown; her grandchildren, Philip H. Ketrelakes and his wife, Cassie, Ashlee F. DePietro and her husband, Derek, Carson K. Willis and her husband, Jake, Amanda S. Gentile and her husband, Michael and Alexander C. Grenier and his wife, Mindy; 5 great-grandchildren, Hunter, Wesley, Mason, Ava and Maddison. Susan was preceded in death by her brother, Wayne F. Mathews.

ARRANGEMENTS: At the request of the family, all services are private. Assisting the family with the arrangements is O'Donnell Cremations – Funerals – Celebrations, 167 Maple St., (rte. 62) DANVERS.
