SALEM – Ms. Suzanne Macken 79, of Salem, died unexpectedly, Thursday, September 28 th , 2022 at her home.
Born in Salem, she was the daughter of the late Donald and Marion (Arnold) Macken. She was raised and educated in Salem and was a graduate of the former St. Chretienne's Academy in Salem and Salem High School. She continued her education attending Endicott College.
Ms. Macken had been employed with the Telephone Company for many years until the time of her retirement. She began with New England Tel & Tel and stayed with the company through all of its transitions, from AT&T to Verzion. She rose to the position of manager and was well respected by all of those she worked with.
A life long resident of the City of Salem, Suzanne was an avid Mahjong player and bowler. In her younger years, she was an avid skier and member of many ski clubs. Well-travelled, Sue visited many places throughout the world. She was a member of the Red Hats and was a season ticket holder at the North Shore Music Theatre. Above all else, she relished time spent with family. "Auntie Sue" was a fixture in her family's lives. She never missed a family event or holiday and truly enjoyed family time. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
Sue is survived by her sister, Mary Riley of Salem, her nieces, Pamela Molea and her husband, Gary of Lynn, Jennifer Dacy and her husband, Andrew of Byfield and Kerri Altieri of Salem, her nephew, William Riley and his wife, Lisa of Salem, her great nieces, Nicole, Madison, Cameryn and Giana, her great nephews, Garrett, Brett and Benjamin and her great, great nephew, Brayden.
ARRANGEMENTS: Her funeral service will be held at O'Donnell Cremations – Funerals – Celebrations, 84 Washington Sq., (at Salem Common) SALEM, Tuesday, Oct. 4 th at 11:15 A.M. Relatives and friends invited. Burial in Harmony Grove Cemetery, Salem. Visiting hours prior to the service from 10 to 11 A.M.
