Obituary

DANVERS – Theodore William Sigman, "Ted", 76 of Danvers, passed away after a multi-year battle with lung cancer on Thursday, June 19, 2025. He was the loving husband of Deborah J. (Rennick) Sigman with whom he shared 54 years of marriage.

Born in Beverly, Ted was the son of the late Theodore and Annette (LeBel) Sigman. He was raised and educated in Danvers, and remained a life-long resident of the town, residing in his family home until the day of his passing. He attended Danvers High School, class of 1966, where he ran track and nurtured his love for music as a drummer. His educational journey led him to Southern Arkansas University, where he earned a bachelor's degree in Social Studies in 1970, and Northeastern University, where he completed his master's degree in special education in 1975.

Ted taught in the Ipswich School system for over 30 years beginning in the Middle School and continuing on to the High School in the Special Education Department. He enjoyed working in the Special Education field, always seeing the potential in every student.

In addition to his teaching career, Ted enjoyed post-retirement work on the grounds crew at Sagamore Golf Course in Lynnfield as well as bartending for various caterers around the North Shore. These roles allowed him to engage with others, reflecting his innate sociability and love for storytelling. A lifelong lover of all types of music, in particular jazz, he continued to express his musicality, often tapping out rhythms on the steering wheel of his car or any available pot or bucket.

Ted has always been known for his upbeat personality. To Ted the "glass was always half full."  Above all else, Ted was happiest when traveling with his wife around the world, often in the company of their special friends, Mike and Nancy Murphy. As a devoted husband, father and grandfather, Ted cherished time spent outdoors with family and friends—camping, skiing, golf, tennis, and pickleball. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

In addition to his loving wife Deborah, Ted is survived by his daughters, Jenna Rennick Sigman and her husband, David Nemeskal of Danvers, currently of Fort Worth, TX and Devon Irene Sigman of Danvers and her husband, Michael Dvorak of California, currently of Seoul, South Korea; his beloved grandchildren, Evelyn Nemeskal, Nathaniel Nemeskal, Theodore "Teo" Dvorak and Maya Dvorak; his sisters-in-law, Jeanne Arsenault and her husband Ed of Peabody, Terry Rennick of Beverly, Denise Rennick Moreschi and her husband Michael; brothers-in-law, Ken Rennick and his wife, Gina of Ipswich and Frank Rennick of Peabody, and many other loving nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.
