Obituary

SALEM – Ms. Theresa (Dubiel) Engdahl 87, of Salem, died unexpectedly, Wednesday, May 15th, 2024 at Salem Hospital with her loving family by her side.

Born in Salem, she was the daughter of the late John and Philomena (Wojtas) Dubiel. She was raised and educated in Salem and was a graduate of Salem High School.

Ms. Engdahl began her professional career at the former Parker Brothers Games in Salem. She worked in the Quality Control Division for over 33 years until the time of the company closing. She was a dedicated and steadfast Parker Brothers team member and enjoyed her career and colleagues. She matriculated to DevCon in Danvers and was associated with them for over 15 years until the time of her retirement. She was a hardworking professional woman who did all in her control to provide a good life for her family.

A lifelong resident of the city of Salem, Theresa was a loving mother, gram, babci, sister and aunt, who was whole heartedly devoted to her family. She never missed a family event and supported her grandchildren in all of their endeavors. For many years she organized the fundraising Bingo for the Salem/Swampscott Youth Hockey program. She enjoyed time spent at Salem Willows and Winter Island and always looked forward to her trips to the family camp in Maine and summertime boating. She reveled in partaking in games of chance, playing bingo and visiting casinos. A diehard Boston Bruins fan, she had a real passion for hockey, especially if her grandsons where out on the ice; as she was their biggest cheerleader. Above all else, family always came first. Theresa enjoyed time spent in her rocking chair on her front porch. You could also find her indoors completing her word searches or playing solitaire. She will be remembered for her caring and compassionate nature and admired for her hard work and commitment to her family.

Theresa is survived by her son, Carl Engdahl and his wife, Cheryl of South Hamilton, her grandchildren, Josh Engdahl and his wife, Lindsey of Manchester-by-the-Sea, Justin Engdahl and his wife, Emily of Peabody and Kimberly Damon of Peabody, her great grandchildren, Tessa, Skye, Aston and Ainsley, her siblings, Patricia Roy and her husband, George of Peabody and Richard Dubiel of North Carolina and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Barbara Ball and Robert and Freddy Dubiel.
