Obituary

PEABODY – Mr. Thomas D. Callahan, Sr., 80, passed away while in memory care in Newburyport, on February 7th, 2024. Born in Methuen, he was the beloved son of the late Thomas E. and Ruth (Magoon) Callahan. Thomas was predeceased by his sisters, Colleen, Patricia, and Alice.

Raised and educated in Lynn, Thomas graduated from Lynn Tech., where he was a star athlete on their baseball, basketball, and football teams. He enlisted in the United States Airforce, where he served as an Airman for 4 years and was honorably discharged in 1967.  Tom spent the first half of his working years as an Instrumentation Technician at Domino Sugar, then went on to work in the HVAC Department at Massachusetts Institute of Technology - MIT for over 20 years until the time of his retirement in 2018.

Always the life of the party, Tom enjoyed spending time with friends and family, rooting for all the Boston sports teams, Duke Basketball, riding his bike, and going to the beach. He was active in the Veterans Affairs organizations in Peabody, as well as the Peabody Senior Center.

Tom was the proud father of Thomas D. Callahan, Jr. and his wife Michelle of Rowley, Sean Callahan and his wife, Penny Navaraj of Medford, and Erin Brewer and her husband, Chris of Jacksonville, FL. He was the loving grandfather of Dillon, Brendan, and Aidan Callahan, Danielle and Abigail Brewer, and great-grandfather of Emma Callahan.

ARRANGEMENTS: A Mass of Christian Burial celebrating Thomas' life will be held at St. Adelaide's Church, 708 Lowell St, Peabody on Friday, February 16th at 10:30 A.M. Relatives and Friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visitation will be held prior to the Mass at O'Donnell Cremations – Funerals – Celebrations, 167 Maple St., (Rte. 62) DANVERS, Friday, Feb. 16th from 8 to 10 A.M.
