MARBLEHEAD - Thomas E. Williams, of Marblehead, passed away Monday, April 20th, 2026 with his family by his side at the Kaplan Family Hospice House at the age of 79. The beloved husband of Jeanne (Price) Williams, Tom lived a life defined by hard work, intellect, humor, and deep devotion to his family.

Tom was born in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania to the late James G. and Elsie (Fitcher) Williams. In 1954, his family moved to Bound Brook, New Jersey where he spent his formative years. A natural competitor, Tom won the junior New Jersey State Archery Championship in 1962 and graduated from Bound Brook High School in 1964. Working at the local Mobil station sparked Tom’s lifelong interest in fast, head turning cars.

An exceptional student, Tom earned a full scholarship to Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, New Jersey. In 1968, he achieved the remarkable distinction of earning both a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering and a Master of Science in Chemical Engineering simultaneously – an unprecedented feat. Tom went on to receive his Master of Business Administration from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania in 1970, graduating summa cum laude as a Joseph Wharton Fellow.

Tom took great pride in his humble beginnings and built a distinguished career through determination and diligence. He started his career in 1971 as a management consultant A.T. Kearney, a top strategic advisory firm where he rose from entry level to a senior manager. During the 1980s, he held senior executive roles at PepsiCo, where he managed profit and loss responsibilities of approximately $3 billion, oversaw all manufacturing, quality and distribution activities, led more than 4,000 employees, and managed a $180 million budget. He later served as President and CEO of Home Innovations, Inc., where he increased company revenue by 120%.

In 1992, Tom moved his family to Marblehead after becoming President and Chief Executive Officer of Applied Extrusion Technologies (AET), then a fledgling plastics company based in Salem. Through a series of bold acquisitions and manufacturing innovations, Tom transformed AET into one of the top plastic film suppliers in the world, growing annual revenue from $20 million to $300 million.

Tom’s underdog journey – from the son of a Pennsylvania coal miner to corner offices in corporate America – inspired many, especially his son Price, who saw his father as a living embodiment of the American Dream.

After retiring in 2002, Tom devoted himself fully to the people and moments he cherished most. His family was the center of his world. Together they enjoyed many afternoons on the family boats “Price Is Right”, “Invigorator”, and “Salute” harbor cruising, lobstering, and striped bass fishing. When Tom was promoted to Grandpa, he never missed an activity or event where Savvy or Luke were participating. Tom was, in every sense, “all in” for his family.

Simply put, Tom was the kind of person people liked being around. He was generous and thoughtful. His dry humor and one liners always kept people on their toes. His tradition of mailing humorous articles, photos, scratch tickets, and even zero-balance gift cards was one of the many distinctive ways he connected with those he loved. Tom will be deeply missed by all those who knew him.

In addition to his parents, Tom is predeceased by his siblings Jim Williams, Bob Williams, and Lois Lewis. He is lovingly survived by his wife of 45 years, Jeanne; his son Price and daughter-in-law Dominique; his cherished grandchildren Savannah and Luke; his sister Joan Strall and her husband Bill; Jeanne’s sisters Kay Price, Pat Bull, and Colleen Thiel and her husband Dave; and many nieces, nephews, colleagues and friends.

ARRANGEMENTS: Tom will be laid to rest at Marblehead’s Waterside Cemetery in a private burial service. The family will host a Celebration of Life for Tom at the Eastern Yacht Club at a date to be announced in the near future. Assisting with the arrangements is O’Donnell Cremations - Funerals - Celebrations, 84 Washington Sq., (at Salem Common) SALEM.
