(Garnett) Barthel

SALEM – Mrs. Vickie Sue Barthel, 78 of Salem, longtime resident of New Port Richey, Florida and loving wife of the late Larry Blaustein, passed away on Friday, January 6, 2023 at Lahey Hospital in Burlington with her devoted family by her side.
Born in Leavenworth, Kansas, Vickie was the daughter of the late Willard and Katherine (Lee) Garnett. She was raised in Kansas and received her education there, graduating from high school and continued her education receiving 2 years of college.
Extremely detail oriented, Vickie started her professional career handling the books for seven different doctors in Kansas. She relocated for work when she started working for Wang Laboratories installing computers. She would spend the remainder of her career working as a secretary for New England Medical Center's Hematology Oncology department until the time of her retirement. In the early 2000's Vickie and Larry relocated to New Port Richey, Florida where they shared many friendships and resided until 2022.
Vickie enjoyed her life to the fullest traveling to many places including Acapulco, Mexico which she visited annually with her husband and often visited Vegas and Atlantic City to gamble. She loved a good retail therapy and a great round of golf. Above all else she was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who was truly happiest when spending time with her family or even chatting with them on facetime. Seeing her family, brought her great joy and she will be deeply missed by all of them.
Vickie is survived by her sons, Daniel Barthel and his wife, Kim of Salem and David Barthel and his wife Tara of Pennsylvania; her grandchildren, Alexis and her husband, Mike Racippi of Woburn, Andrew Barthel and his wife, Sam of Colorado, Tiffany, Melissa and Michael Mento all of Salem, Brandon Barthel, Adam Barthel and his wife, Nicole, Skylar Barthel and Cheyenne Barthel all of Pennsylvania; her great-grandchildren, Nataliah, Antonio, Patrick, Avah, Dominick, Michael Jr., Mason and Mazie; her sister-in-law Sharon Garnett and nieces, Mary Kay and Bonnie. She was the sister of the late William Garnett.
ARRANGEMENTS: At the request of the family, all services are private.
