SALEM – Mrs. Virginia "Ginger" M. (Moynihan) Wentzell, 90 of Salem passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 28th, 2023, just 1 day shy of her 91st birthday, at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers with her loving and devoted family by her side. She was the beloved wife of the late John Francis Wentzell.
Born in Salem, Ginger was the daughter of the late Lawrence and Rose (Silva) Moynihan. She was raised and educated in Salem and was a graduate of Salem High School, class of 1950.
As a loving wife and mother, Ginger took great pride in providing a warm and loving home for her family. She was a talented cook, providing many delicious meals for her family throughout the years. She enjoyed gardening and spending time crafting from painting ceramics to knitting afghans. She was a loyal fan of the Red Sox and New England Patriots and supported them through their many ups and unfortunate lows. She was kind and caring woman who loved her family and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Ginger is survived by her sons, David Wentzell and his wife, Gigi of Salem, Larry Wentzell and his wife, Laurie of Lynn and Paul Wentzell of Salem; her grandchildren, Kristin Dennis and her husband, Chris of Peabody, Scott Wentzell of Lynn, Lauren Cole of Sherborn, Meaghan Dills and her husband, Brooks of Greer, SC, Patrick Wentzell of Lynn, Brady Ryan of Lynn and Marcus Ryan of Lynn; her great-grandchildren, Maddy and Jake Dennis, Caitlin Wentzell, Audrey Dills and William and Natalie Cole; her sisters, Mary St. Pierre of Portland, ME and Patricia Mello of Rowley and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and her husband, Ginger was predeceased by her brother, Larry Moynihan and her beloved dog, Huey.
ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are invited to attend Ginger's funeral service which will be held at O'Donnell Cremations – Funerals – Celebrations, 84 Washington Sq., (at Salem Common) SALEM on Monday, July 10th, at 12 NOON. Visiting hours prior to her service from 10 A.M. to 12 NOON. Burial in Greenlawn Cemetery, Salem. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Virginia's memory to Care Dimensions, 75 Sylvan St., (Suite B-102) Danvers, MA 01923.
