PEABODY - Virginia Chima (Uba) Gyoh, 88, beloved wife of the late Kpensaren K. Gyoh, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 14, 2026, at the Kaplan Family Hospice House, Danvers, in the presence of loving family.

Born in Imo State, Nigeria, she was the daughter of the late Peter and Mary Uba. She was raised and educated in Nigeria.

Her career as a schoolteacher for decades started with Primary (elementary / middle) schools and subsequently, Secondary (High) schools in Nigeria. She nurtured her students, and many viewed her as a mother figure. After her husband had passed away, in 2016, she joined her daughter in the United States.

A loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, Virginia was a resident of Peabody, Massachusetts, and a member of Peabody Senior Center where she enjoyed many activities. She loved family and was very proud of her children and grandchildren.

Virginia was fascinated by works and forces of nature. She enjoyed visits to Salem Willows by the ocean, and trips to York Beach in Maine. She also loved to locate places on globe maps.

Virginia will be remembered for her love of family, her dedication to education, her kindness and generosity towards others and will be sorely missed by her family, friends and many to whom she was a mother figure.

Surviving Virginia are her children, Son Gyoh and his wife Teresa; Louis Gyoh and his wife Jennifer; Devaan (Gyoh) Uwechie and her husband Emile, and Nan Oluyede and her husband Olufemi.

She is also survived by her brother, Leo Uba and his wife Gertrude, 12 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews who loved her dearly.
