Obituary

SALEM – Mrs. Virginia Marie (Muller) Kieran, 82 of Salem and the loving wife of James H. "Jim" Kieran, Jr., passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 30th, 2024 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers with her devoted family by her side.

Born in Salem, Virginia was the daughter of the late Leonard and Cecile (LeBlanc) Muller. She was raised and educated in Salem, and was a graduate of Ste. Chretienne Academy. Virginia continued her education at Northeastern University earning her associate degree in hopes to become an x-ray technician.

A dream that became her reality, Virginia took great pride in her professional career as an X-Ray Technician, devoting her early working career at Salem Hospital and later in life, spent many years volunteering in the radiology department. Comforting and reassuring, Virginia was a familiar face to many in times of health and had a calming demeanor that put many at ease. As her children grew, Virginia worked as the office manager for the family business at Bouchard & Son Inc. Auto Service in Salem for over 40 years. In addition to her working career, Virginia took great pride in being a loving wife and mother; providing a warm and loving home for her family and later in life, her beloved grandchildren.

Ultimately, Virginia was happiest when with her husband and best friend, Jim. Together they traveled all over the world visiting over 32 countries developing a true passion that they enjoyed into their 80's. In addition to traveling the world, Virginia was just as joyful when with her grandchildren, supporting them in any event, taking them on vacations, day trips to the Salem Willows, sleepovers and most famously, her Sunday dinners that brought her whole family together. She stayed active, meeting with her exercise group in the morning, followed by a meal with friends at Panera and was a talented quilter, creating beautiful pieces for her family to treasure for generations to come. Above all else, Virginia was a woman of great faith, integrity and love who will be deeply missed.

In addition to her beloved husband Jim, with whom Virginia celebrated 60 years of marriage; she is survived by her daughters, Lisa O'Neil and her husband, Kevin of Marblehead and Amy Pettinelli and her husband, Steven of Marblehead; grandchildren, Michael O'Neil and his wife, Caroline of Marblehead, Matthew O'Neil and his fiancé, Grace Hallinan of Marblehead, Kirsten Pettinelli of San Diego, CA and Kyle Pettinelli of Boston and her beloved great-granddaughter, Shea O'Neil of Marblehead; her sister, Elizabeth Bouchard of Marblehead her brother, Lawrence Muller of Marblehead and several nieces and nephews.
