Waldo Everett Banks Jr.

LYNN – Mr. Waldo Everett Banks Jr., 63, of Lynn, formerly of Peabody and Danvers, died unexpectedly on Monday, August 3, 2026, at his home.

Born in Malden, he was the son of Janice Louise (Greene) Banks and the late Waldo Banks Sr. Raised and educated in Peabody, Waldo was a graduate of Peabody Vocational Technical High School. As a young man, he was an avid hockey player.

Mr. Banks learned the carpentry trade at "the Voke," and it served as the foundation for his entire professional life. He was a Union Carpenter for many years, notably working on the construction of the Seabrook Nuclear Power Plant. Later, he established his own building and remodeling company as proprietor. From framing a house to constructing an intricate deck or crafting fine finish woodwork, Waldo was a master of his craft. Even with hands as large as a boxer’s, he possessed the fine skill needed to execute the most detailed woodworking projects. He generously used his talents to help family and friends whenever called upon, earning a well-deserved reputation as a true “Mr. Fix-It.”

Family was truly at the heart of Waldo’s life. He cherished traveling to Florida to spend time with his parents and siblings, and his big heart grew even larger when he became a grandfather. He treasured every moment spent with his grandchildren, creating memories they will carry with them forever. Waldo had a remarkable talent for working with his hands and took great pride in everything he created. Whether he was tending to his garden, creating beautiful crafts, or decorating for the holidays, his creativity and attention to detail shone through in every project. Fall was his favorite season, and he eagerly welcomed it each year, enjoying the crisp autumn days, decorating for the season, and making cherished memories with those he loved. An avid cook, he always looked forward to the holidays and annual trips to the Topsfield Fair. He was happiest surrounded by family, making every gathering feel warm and special. A true family man, great listener, and all-around good guy, Waldo had the biggest heart imaginable and found his greatest joy in the company of those he loved. Though his passing came far too soon, the memories he created and the love he shared will live on forever.

Waldo is survived by his daughter, Heather DiMare and her husband, Nicolas of Peabody; his son, Eric Banks and his partner, Anastasia Markos of Danvers; his beloved grandchildren, Luke, Brixton, and Alessia; his mother, Janice Louise (Greene) Banks of Umatilla, FL; his siblings, Linda Lake and her husband, Mark of Umatilla, FL, Wayne Banks and his wife, Kimberley of Rowley, John Banks of Eustis, FL, and Christine Banks Tangusso and her husband, Mark of Eustis, FL; his former spouse, Robin Lamonica of Beverly; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and close friends. He was predeceased by his grandson, Bodhi DiMare.

ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are invited to Waldo's Funeral Service which will be held, graveside, at Cedar Grove Cemetery, 100 Cedar Grove Ave., Peabody on Tuesday, August 18th at 11 A.M.
