January 18, 1935 – April 2, 2025
DANVERS, MA – Walter "Joe" Innis, 90 of Danvers, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 2nd, 2025 at his home. He was the beloved husband of 58 years to Shirleyan (Frazier) Innis.
Born in North Andover to the late Walter F. Innis and Katherine (Dunn) Innis Redding. Joe grew up in Danvers, MA where he worked for Danvers State Hospital for 30 years and for his cousin, Donald Innis at the gravel pit, where he drove a dump truck, his favorite truck being "Mack".
An honorable discharged veteran, Joe proudly served his country for four years as a member of the United States Army.
He enjoyed spending time with his wife going on cruises and weekending at the casinos. His artistic skills shone brightly through his beautiful woodburning art, sketches, and paintings. Joe belonged to the Polish Club in Danvers. He enjoyed a good book and crossword puzzle. He truly thrived when being at home, doing yardwork and watching his family make memories by the pool.
In addition to his loving wife Shirleyan of Danvers, Joe is survived by his children, Victoria Wilson and her husband, Richard of Gloucester, Walter Innis and his wife, Verlene of Gloucester; his grandchildren, Jaclyn, Joseph, Richard, Shane, Hayden, Amelia and Sophia; great-grandchildren, Lola and Beau; his nephew, Donald Innis, IV and niece, Caitlin Innis both of Florida and many other nieces and nephews. Joe was predeceased by his parents, Walter and Katherine and sister, Eleanor Burnett.
ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are invited to Joe's funeral which will be held graveside at Walnut Grove Cemetery, 30 Sylvan St., Danvers on Friday, April 11th at 11 A.M. Assisting the family with the arrangements is O'Donnell Cremations – Funerals – Celebrations, 167 Maple St., (Rte. 62) DANVERS. In lieu of flowers, donations in Joe's memory may be made to Shriners Children's, P.O. Box 947765, Atlanta, GA 30394.
